The council has awarded contracts to build over 250 homes to a construction company in deals worth a combined £70 million.

Engie Regeneration was awarded contracts by Waltham Forest Council for housing developments in South Grove, Sansom Road, Essex Close and Hylands Road.

A contract worth £29,752,448 was awarded for the construction of 120 new homes on the Hylands Road Estate.

All 120 homes will be available for social rent and the development will be fitted with solar panels.

Engie Regeneration was also awarded a £24,614,244 contract for the construction of 83 homes in South Grove, Walthamstow.

The development will provide 50 per cent affordable homes, with 20 homes for social rent and an NHS health centre for St James medical practice along with car parking spaces.

Another £5,760,945 contract for the construction of 20 new homes in Essex Close, Walthamstow, was also awarded to the company.

The Essex Close development is on a former garage site to the rear of the Essex Close estate.

The development will comprise of 20 new homes arranged in two four-storey blocks with 50 per cent affordable housing, including six homes for social rent.

Planning permission applications for all three developments will be put before the council tomorrow.

The company was further awarded a £9,061,640 contract for the construction of 31 new homes in Sansom Road.

The former Lansdowne Road car park in Sansom Road, Leytonstone, will be demolished to make way for residential development – comprised of two five and six storey buildings.

All 31 of the new homes will be available for social rent.

Planning permission was granted at a council meeting last month.
