You can honour the lives of loved ones who have passed away in an upcoming ceremony.

Peace Hospice Care will be holding its annual ‘Lights of Love’ ceremony on December 10 from 7pm outside Watford Town Hall where attendees can dedicate a light to a loved one who have passed away before the 'lights of love' tree is lit up in a special switch-on.

One man, Jason Angold, will switch on the tree at the end of the ceremony in memory of his late wife Pauline who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011.

In 2018, Pauline came to the Peace Hospice Care for her end-of-life care.

Watford Observer:

Mr Angold said: “Pauline arrived at the Inpatient Unit and immediately we all felt cared for and understood. Nothing was too much to ask.

“As soon as you walk through the door, the privacy offered and the environment – it felt like an extended family, like people really cared – and I felt cared for too.

“It’s difficult to put into words. The experience was the best it could have been, I couldn’t fault it. TO this day, I wish we’d been involved with the Hospice sooner.”

The event will be joined with carols and readings while others dedicate a light before the switch-on.

Charlotte Richardson, the in memory and legacy fundraising manager at Peace Hospice Care, said: “At Peace Hospice Care, we provide care and support to our community.

“Our Lights of Love ceremony is a wonderful way for local people to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones, and we welcome the whole community to come along.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Jason and his family for switching on the Lights of Love tree at next week’s ceremony.”
