A woman has been jailed for keeping a gun in her house.
Khadija Ali, 30, of Clitterhouse Crescent, Golders Green, was jailed for five years at Harrow Crown Court, today (December 13), for possession of a gun.
Officers searched Ali’s home on October 18, during which they found a box under her bed which had a Walther PKK handgun and 14 rounds of ammunition.
Ali was also given a two-year sentence for holding ammunition, which will not run concurrently.
She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at the same court on November 5.
Detective Inspector Niall McSheffrey, from Specialist Crime, said: “While we can’t be sure if Ali intended to use this firearm, the fact she was knowingly concealing it in her property is a grievous crime.
“By removing this from circulation, I have no doubt that a number of lives have been saved or serious injury to others has been prevented.”
