Schoolchildren took centre stage when they entertained guests at a retirement home with Christmas carols and festive favourites.

To get into the Christmas spirit, pupils from Kenilworth Primary School in Borehamwood were invited down to Goldwyn House in Studio Way.

The children performed live in front of residents at the home, as part of developer McCarthy & Stone’s series of ‘At Home’ events.

This scheme is inspired by the social tradition of days gone-by that sees friends and family gather at home to celebrate the festive season.

Julie Ward, national sales director at McCarthy & Stone, said: "Everyone who came along to Kenilworth Primary School’s performance had a wonderful time, the children are all very talented and really got our Christmas off to a fantastic start.

"I’d like to thank the choir for coming along and helping us host a joyful event. It was a great opportunity for locals to see for themselves what a close-knit and supportive community we have here at Goldwyn House."
