We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family.

This morning, we continue to look back at some of the biggest stories of 2019 in Borehamwood.

We start with a lovely story about some schoolchildren in Borehamwood who went some way to help restore our faith in youngsters.

These kind-hearted and selfless teenagers rushed to rescue an elderly lady who tripped and fell hard on her face.

Sheila Hughes, 76, was walking along Aycliffe Road, with her eight-year-old Jack Russell, Daisy, on March 9, when she was accidentally tripped by Daisy, causing her to fall onto the pavement face-first.

In pain and with blood pouring from her face, eight teenagers who were opposite ran over to help Mrs Hughes.

Local councillor Michelle Vince was in the area at the time and she snapped a photo of the selfless teenagers before sharing it on Facebook. The people of Borehamwood loved it sending dozens of heartfelt messages to the teenagers.

A second story in Aycliffe Road - but unfortunately this was is not so heartwarming.

Cllr Vince was in the news again as she and her fellow Labour colleagues joined forces with the postmaster at Aycliffe Road post office.

He was facing a rent hike of more than double to 13,000, by Hertsmere Borough Council, potentially putting him out of business. More than 1,000 people signed a petition opposing the hike.

And it was game over for two pranksters who broke into the Big Brother house in Borehamwood in December 2018.

Ally Law, 22, of Hepworth Close, Southampton, and Ryan Taylor, 25, of Lichfield Road, Bloxwich, Walsall, were sentenced to 120 hours of community service after they trespassed on the Elstree Studios site twice.

The second time was during a live eviction, forcing security to put the house on lockdown.
