An elderly woman painted the Mayor’s Christmas card which was used to raise money for disabled adults.
Watford Mayor's Peter Taylor asked users of DRUM Watford to design Christmas cards for his appeal.
One of the users, Angela, won the competition.
Her winning design was used to raise money for her charity, which support adults with sensory and physical disabilities and Watford Women’s Centre which support women and victims of domestic abuse.
Elected Mayor Peter Taylor and Angela.
The council then approached businesses in the community asking for a charitable donation to feature on the card.
More than £6,000 was raised from the appeal.
Mr Taylor said: “I’d like to thank all businesses who generously supported my Christmas card appeal this year, which will go towards helping two fantastic local charities.
“It was also great to meet Angela, who’s design beat a tough field of entries to win this time.
“She’s a great advocate of the work DRUM does and a very talented artist.
"One of our town’s great strengths is our generosity and things like this really show what a caring place Watford is.”
The businesses who donated this year are:
- Humphreys Shreadpoint
- Warner Brothers
