Businesses and organisations have come together to create a float for the 2020 London New Year’s Day Parade.

The parade, which will run tomorrow (January 1), will host a ‘best float’ competition – and Barnet will compete against London’s other boroughs to win.

The themes of the event in 2020 are ‘health and wellbeing’ and ‘loving London life’.

The borough’s float has been dubbed ‘Live Your Best Life’, focusing on mental health and living in the moment.

Big Ben will be part of the display as an iconic London landmark to represent time.

It will also feature a rainbow to celebrate the diversity of our borough.

A borough-wide effort has been put into making Barnet’s float be the best it can be.

Mayor of Barnet Councillor Caroline Stock said: “Putting together the float, we have involved organisations and people from all over the borough. Barnet has really come together as a team to put make this float and the actual entry.

“Individuals from across the borough of all ages have got behind the idea of healthy living. They have been dancing, singing and moving their way into a healthier life. We all need to appreciate what is around us, so we can live our best lives.”

Anyone can watch the parade from 12noon on Wednesday 1 January on London Live, via Facebook and Twitter @lnydp, or at lnydp.comExternal link. People can vote for Barnet to win the People’s Choice award in the London Borough category via the LNYDP’s Facebook and Twitter channels, and via its website.

The poll will run from 12noon on New Year’s Day until the end of the parade.
