A person has died after being hit by a train, resulting in major travel disruptions and cancellations.

The incident happened between Meridian Water in Enfield and Waltham Cross at around 12pm today (Monday, January 27).

The incident will cause disruptions to services between Cheshunt and Tottenham Hale.

Despite services reopening at around 3pm, Stansted Express and Greater Anglia trains running between Cheshunt and Tottenham Hale have experienced severe delays.

In a tweet Stansted Express wrote: "Sadly due to a person being hit by a train between Waltham Cross and Meridian Water all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice."
