A major road in Borehamwood is expected to reopen this evening.

As of 5.30pm on Tuesday, Allum Lane remains closed between Deacons Hill Road and the mini-roundabout by Elstree & Borehamwood train station.

Affinity Water has been repairing a water main but the closure has caused major disruption for drivers, particularly in the morning rush hour, leaving Borehamwood.

Hertsmere councillor Caroline Clapper has been in contact with Affinity Water today to ask for updates on when the company expects to reopen the road.

Cllr Clapper wrote on social media that Affinity Water hope to open the road at around 7pm.

She wrote this morning: "I have just been informed that Affinity Water were unable to carry out the reinstatement yesterday due to the extent of the repair."

Her latest update at around 3.30pm was: "Affinity Water are looking for the road to be opened at 7pm. They are onsite now completing the tarmac. There are three excavations which is why it’s taking some time."

The closure is not causing too many delays this evening apart from in Barnet Lane towards Elstree between Furzehill Road and Elstree Hill.
