THE AFTERMATH of Storm Dennis is continuing to impact last parts of the Hampshire, causing travel misery for residents.

High-speed winds and torrential rain battered much of the county over the weekend, leading to flooded roads, fallen trees and travel chaos.

Romsey was hit particularly hard during the storm, with many roads remaining closed while the temporary flood defences aim to protect more than 200 homes at risk of flooding.

As previously reported, the Environment Agency and Hampshire Fire and Rescue worked into the night setting up the temporary barriers in Romsey.

A spokesperson from the Environmental Agency said: "There will be a significant amount of water flooding land and fields from Timsbury to Romsey.

“Some footpath flooding may affect Rivermead Close and the Memorial Park. At Romsey Industrial estate, water may be ponded on land near to Greatbridge Road, and land at Broadlands and Testwood will also flood.”

Fleming Park in Eastleigh was also heavily impacted, with many parts of the park completely underwater.

Residents have also been enduring travel misery, as dozens of roads remain close due to flooding, as well as trains from Southampton Central to Romsey, and from Basingstoke to Bournemouth being heavily disrupted.

Meanwhile, ferry operator Red Jet has suspended it services between Southampton and the Isle of Wight and South due to adverse weather, and more than 230 Easyjet flights, some of which, landing and taking off at Southampton Airport were cancelled due to the high winds.
