THERE has been a police presence at the top of town this evening following two incidents.

An ambulance and police car could be seen on the corner of Rawson Square, while another police car was parked on Northgate and another on John Street when the Telegraph & Argus went to the scene.

A passer-by reported seeing lots of police cars and ambulances.

It's understood there were two separate incidents which were reported at around the same time - just before 5pm.

An 80-year-old man is reported to have gone to hospital after being knocked down, while police were also called to a "commotion" in the  area.

The scene appeared to be quietening down by around 5.30pm.
