A homeless charity has thanked the community after an influx of loo roll donations.
Emmaus Hertfordshire, a St Albans-based charity supporting the homeless, received more than 280 rolls of toilet paper after it put out a desperate plea on Facebook last Monday (March 16).
The social media appeal came after it failed to get hold of any loo roll from its regular delivery as a result of panic buying during the coronavirus pandemic.
The charity provides accommodation to 32 homeless people, ensuring they are not on the streets during the public health crisis.
Emmaus Hertfordshire business development manager, Jennifer Hewson, said: "We were a little horrified to find not one toilet roll in our order last week, and the company we ordered from couldn’t advise us when stocks would be available.

"We sent out a number of our staff searching for rolls in local shops but with little success, so we turned to our brilliant Facebook supporters and we weren’t disappointed.
"The post was seen by 15,000 people and shared over 60 times.
"Our customers and supporters have just been fantastic in what is such a difficult time for our charity.
"We are just really glad that we can prevent 32 formerly homeless people from having to experience this pandemic on the streets.”
The charity pointed that a cleaning and hygiene supplier, Bunzl, had been especially generous by donating 120 loo rolls.
The Hygiene Bank St Albans and Harpenden have also been supporting the Emmaus by providing toiletries and bottles of handwash.
