Two sadly lost street scenes today.
Here is Orford Road, Walthamstow, in 1962 (image courtesy of Vestry House Museum picture archive). It looks like a family is walking along the pavement.
Here is the same spot in late 2019. Does anybody remember when the houses were knocked down?
Here is an almost rural scene in Lea Bridge Road, west of Lea Bridge Station, Leyton, in 1956 (image courtesy of Vestry House Museum picture archive). Note the car and Shell billboard.
Sadly, the same street today does not look nearly as pretty.
