FAMILIES have started a new trend to spread festive cheer amid the coronavirus pandemic by digging out the Christmas trees and decorating them for Easter.

Louise Connolly, from Runcorn, usually sets up an egg hunt in her garden at Easter, but has this year decided to go one step further and bring the Christmas tree out from the cellar.

The 34-year-old decorated the tree with kids Arthur, six, and Iris, four, in order to entertain the little ones and make the house more cheerful during lockdown.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

She is one of a whole host of people putting up the Christmas tree and covering it with Easter eggs, bunny ears, yellow chicks and spring flowers.

The health, safety and quality officer said: "I always decorate the garden for a big Easter egg hunt, we love Easter.

"But given the current situation and the craziness of it all, I thought we'd try and cheer the house up a little bit because we're all stuck here for the foreseeable future.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

"And it gave the kids something to do.

"They thought it was hilarious, I just want to make this time memorable for them in nice ways."
