This is the incredible moment a 94-year-old coronavirus patient was cheered out of a hospital after recovering from the disease.

Dennis Palmer was being cared for at Barnet Hospital in Chipping Barnet after testing positive for Covid-19.

Sadly, nearly 10,000 patients at UK hospitals who contracted the virus have died - but Mr Palmer has won the battle against the disease.

A video uploaded by the Royal Free London NHS Trust on Twitter on Thursday, shows hospital staff line a corridor as the 94-year-old was wheeled out on a bed by two NHS workers.

In the clip, which has racked up nearly 250,000 views on Twitter, both the workers and the patient wore face masks, as a crowd which had gathered cheered and clapped.

The Royal Free tweeted: "Watch as staff at Barnet Hospital clap and cheer 94-year old patient Dennis Palmer as he leaves hospital after recovering from COVID-19.

"Congratulations to Dennis and well done to all the heroes at Barnet who cared for him!"

A 101-year-old grandfather from Worcestershire is believed to be the oldest patient to have recovered from coronavirus in the UK.

Keith Watson posed with staff and put his thumbs up after being discharged from hospital.

Mr Watson had been admitted to hospital for surgery after a fall but developed a high temperature and tested positive for Covid-19, the BBC reported.
