Wickes will be reopening its Cricklewood store to trial new social distancing measures.

The store in Cricklewood Broadway, which sells home improvement materials, is one of six branches in the country that will be reopening as part of a trial.

The retail chain closed its stores in March but continued to take orders on its website.

But from tomorrow (April 30), its stores in Pudsey, Cheltenham, Preston, Sevenoaks, Cricklewood and Hailsham will be open for browsing again.

There will be social distancing measures put in place to protect staff and customers, and there will be shorter opening hours: Monday to Sunday 7am-6pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm.

Each of the stores will limit the number of people in the shop at any one time, while clear signage and floor markers will advise people to keep two metres apart.

There will also be perspex screens at the tills and service stations, and staff on the shop floor will be using personal protective equipment.

Sanitising stations have been installed for customers and the stores will only accept card and contactless payments.

Services such as timber cutting, and paint mixing will not be available during the trial period and showroom kitchen and bathroom design appointments are only available to customers online.

Refunds will be unavailable until all Wickes stores open fully.
