A man exposed himself before touching himself inappropriately, police have been told.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is investigating an incident of indecent exposure which happened on the outskirts of Borehamwood earlier this month.

Police say they received a report that a man had indecently exposed himself on a footpath that runs between Green Street/Cowley Hill and London Road, before appearing to touch himself inappropriately.

It took place at around 4pm on Monday May 4.

Officers searched the area after the concerned call came in but they could not find their suspect.

However, police say they noticed how busy the footpath was at the time so believe there may be witnesses.

The suspect is described as white and he was wearing a navy blue Adidas tracksuit.

PC Paul Norman, who is investigating, said: "Officers attended and carried out a search of the area to try and locate the suspect, but he remains outstanding at this time.

"During the search, it was noticed that there was quite heavy foot traffic in the area and I would ask anyone who saw what happened to please contact police. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured any relevant dash cam footage which may assist the investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to email paul.norman@herts.pnn.police.uk or report information online at herts.police.uk/report, or 101, quoting 41/35505/20.
