The winning photographers for a competition to show ‘Watford in Extraordinary Times’ has been announced.

Watford Borough Council held the competition as part of the Watford Together initiative for photographers to capture their experience during the coronavirus lockdown period.

There were two categories – one for children aged up to 14 and one for adults, and two winners and eight runners-up have been announced today.

The winners are Millie Lovelock-Halladey, aged 14 and Raluca Nemteanu – who won a Nintendo Switch Lite.

The runners-up include Dilan Modha (10), Harry Quinn (9), Mahi Ruparelia (8), Moreen Mero, Lisa O'Brien, Pratiksha Modha, Tricia Staunton and Zoe Tunstall.

All runners-up in the children’s category will receive an arts and crafts pack, while adults will receive The Spicery’s ‘How to be a curry legend’ cookery kit.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We had an incredible response to our photography competition, so thank you to our residents who submitted their entries.

“We have seen people capture some amazing pictures of their experience over the past few months. These photographs will tell the story of this period in our town’s history to future generations.”

The photography will be used in a special exhibition at Watford Museum and other venues around the town. The winning photographs will also be shared on the council’s social media channels. Find out more at watfordtogether.co.uk.
