BOSSES at Oswestry's community cinema, Kinokulture, have confirmed they will reopen in September.
The popular cinema, in Arthur Street, has been closed for the duration of the Covid-19 lockdown, but with measures starting to ease, bosses say they are aiming for a later summer reopening.
Cinemas have been allowed to reopen since July 4 – though many have remained closed while they prepare for socially distanced viewings, with Kinokulture among them.
"In light of the recent announcement from the Prime Minister, that cinemas could start opening in England from July 4, we would like to inform our supporters of Kinokulture's plans," a spokesman said.
"Having spoken to industry experts, other independent cinemas, and – most importantly – our own customers we are planning to re-open Kinokulture on Friday, September 4.
"Since closing our doors on March 16, we have missed you all very much and want to thank everyone for their wonderful support.
"During this time we have been working alongside industry colleagues in the independent film sector, the British Film Institute and the UK Cinema Association to ensure that we can open our doors again and safely welcome you back to the beauty and magic of the big screen.
"We will keep you updated on our progress but in the meantime we hope you continue to enjoy our virtual screening offers through partnerships with our friends and colleagues in independent film distribution.
"Thank you, take care and we look forward to seeing you in September."
