A man who was stabbed yesterday has not sustained life-threatening injuries, police have said.

The Met Police has confirmed a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital following an incident in Colindale.

Police cordoned off a McDonald's restaurant on the corner of the A5 and Colindeep Lane at around 6.40pm on Monday.

There are reports a fight took place along the A5 Edgware Road, in which a man is believed to have been stabbed.

The injured man is then thought to have run towards McDonald's for help.

Emergency services rushed to the scene including multiple police officers, the London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance.

A man was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital in north London, where police say his condition is not life-threatening.

Police cordons and road closures were in place last night as officers investigated what had happened.

Photos show the McDonald's car park taped off by police with earlier an ambulance could be seen parked in the car park.

Road closures and cordons have now been lifted.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Following the stabbing, Chief Superintendent Roy Smith tweeted: "The same officers who were subject to intense criticism outside #Colindale police station last week today rushed to try and save the life of this young man today.

"Without fear or favour they are the everyday heroes who run towards danger to keep London safe."

On Friday, a protest took place outside Colindale police station following the arrest of a 14-year-old boy.

The boy had been held on suspicion of possessing cannabis.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer as the police vehicle left the scene of the arrest.

Around 40 people then gathered outside the police station, where one protester was arrested.

Riot police had been called in to handle the situation.

All four people arrested have since been released under investigation.
