I’ve lived in Croxley Green for 61 years and am becoming increasingly annoyed with the travellers who arrive in our area, leave rubbish and faeces everywhere and cause criminal damage. The council is then faced with a bill for a bio-hazard team to clear their waste.

They recently arrived on the green; after several days (and a court order) were then moved off but only went as far as Berry field. They were then moved again and occupied the Chorleywood Football club site and are now back on the green (albeit on the other side of the road).

Surely they can’t just keep returning like this? Does the Section 61 not prohibit them from returning the following week? I ask these questions as a taxpayer who has seen council tax rise this year and wonder why I’m expected to pay for these clean-up operations.

Are the police scared to take stricter action as they seem to in other areas? No wonder they will keep returning if they are allowed to get away with this.

I am on several local Facebook groups that have had hundreds of comments about these travellers and people are getting increasingly angry and starting to blame the police for not taking action. Last year, they invaded the Orchard next to the green and broke aged cherry trees and they seem to face no consequences for their actions.

My other annoyance is that I have been shielding as I have leukaemia and have not left my house since March. As the restrictions eased at the end of July I have been taking walks along the green but am now unable to do so as I am intimidated by the travellers!

This is not fair and the police MUST start to take action to protect our area and our residents.

I would be grateful if you could sort this out ASAP so we do not continue to have areas of countryside that we cannot enjoy due to unauthorised caravan sites. I’m sure if I put a caravan on the Green I would be moved off immediately!
