A four-day festival of music, comedy, theatre across more than 45 events will be returning for its fourth year next week in Watford.
As part of Watford Borough Council’s Watford Together scheme, the Pump House Theatre and Arts Trust’s Watford Fringe will take place from October 1 to 4.
The initiative was established by the council to keep the community connected and help people feel less isolated at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has led to many events either being delayed or cancelled in the local area and across the country.
The Pump House team are working hard to ensure the safety of visitors coming to watch the shows. The venue and its furniture will be cleaned regularly with anti-viral treatments and using specialised environmentally friendly UV disinfectant machines. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout and audiences can expect socially distanced measures to be in place.
Staff at the Local Board Road venue are keeping a close watch on the current situation and if circumstances change with guidelines and policies, the venue will honour any live ticket purchases and transfer them to allow people to watch the live stream from the comfort of their own home.

“Four years ago, the Pump House as the quirky local theatre and hub for emerging talent thought, ’Let’s do a Watford Fringe’. Four years later it is going from strength to strength, and this year there will be over 45 events in The Pump House Theatre and Watford Museum.”
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Despite the uncertainty of this year, I am really pleased to see that the Watford Fringe festival has returned for another year.
“We have provided funding for this and it’s a well-known and successful event run by the fantastic team at the Pump House.
“They have worked extremely hard to bring this festival to life and they have taken many precautions to ensure people coming to the venue are safe.
