PUPILS in Year 6 at a Chirk primary school have been instructed to self-isolate for two weeks after a positive Covid-19 test within the year group’s bubble.
Year 6 pupils at Ysgol Y Waun have been told to self-isolate by the school, regardless of whether they are showing symptoms of the virus.
All staff in association with the year group will also be in self-isolation.
The school was set to close for half-term on Friday, but Year 6 has closed early following the positive case.
A letter issued to parents of pupils in Year 6 was posted on the Ysgol Y Waun Twitter page on Tuesday.
It reads: “In response to a positive Covid test within our Year 6 Bubble, we have taken the decision to close Year 6 from tomorrow (Wednesday, October 21) all staff associated with Year 6 will also now be in self-isolation for 14 days.
“All Year 6 pupils should now self-isolate for 14 days – even if they do not have symptoms. Other family members are not required to self-isolate unless a family member develops symptoms, at which point you would order a test.
“We appreciate that this may be difficult for families but we have to try and keep everybody safe at a time when infection rates are, once again, rising.
“For more information regarding self-isolation, please refer to earlier letters sent and to Public Health Wales guidance.”
The early closure of Year 6 comes after a confirmed case of coronavirus within the school’s nursery setting last week.
