A man has died after being hit by a lorry on a busy road.

There has been a large police presence on the A41 between Broadfields Avenue and Apex Corner following the incident this afternoon (February 15), with the road being taped off to motorists.

Metropolitan Police says it was called to the road at 12.31pm to reports of a collision involving a lorry and pedestrian.

Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, and the London Air Ambulance.

The pedestrian, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

His next of kin have been informed.

There have been no arrests at this time.

Road closures are still in place on the southbound carriageway and are expected to remain in place for the next few hours as enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Queues are starting to form in Broadfields Avenue in both directions due to the road closures, with drivers being diverted away from the scene.
