A brand-new Lidl store is coming to Barnet as part of a multi-million-pound investment across the country.

The new store, which will become the second in the borough, is being built in Colney Hatch Lane, Friern Barnet.

Customers will benefit from an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

The store, which will have a 1202m² sales area, comes as part of a £1.3bn investment across the country by Lidl GB.

Lidl confirmed that it has exchanged contracts, securing ownership of the new site in Colney Hatch Lane, working with developer Montreaux Limited.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Mike Devine said: “We are delighted to confirm plans to open a new store in Friern Barnet, which marks another milestone in our ambitious store expansion programme. We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to offering our quality products and incredible value to shoppers.

“We are firmly committed to helping boost the local economy by creating new jobs and working with local suppliers in the construction of the new store.

"The team are very much looking forward to confirming a date for our public consultation day when we will outline our plans and get input from those who will directly benefit from the new store.”

Group Managing Director of Montreaux Ltd, Damian Stalley, added: "This development has revitalised a site that has been vacant for some time with high quality retail space and new homes.

“Once complete it will provide a valuable amenity for the local community, as well as creating jobs and boosting the local economy. Placemaking and mixed-use regeneration is what we do best, and we are delighted to have Lidl on board.”
