A large fire which broke out at a waste recycling plant is under investigation.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled the blaze at the plant in Oakleigh Road, New Southgate, yesterday evening (March 6).

London Fire Brigade says it was called around 8.25pm to the fire, which was under control by 11.55pm.

Pictures shared by the fire service shows the extent of the fire, with firefighters working hard at the scene to put out the large blaze.

The fire service says a corrugated building containing a large amount of general waste was damaged by fire.

“Thankfully the fire did not affect any properties but there was heavy smoke in the local area,” the brigade added.

“Firefighters from Southgate and surrounding fire stations are at the scene throughout the night.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
