Plans to demolish multi-storey housing to enable the regeneration of an area of North London have been published.
A notice from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s Barnet Borough Times states its intention to demolish the blocks contained within Phase 1BS of the Whitefield Estate, Barnet.
The properties in question are Nos. 1 to 44 Norden Point, Nos. 1 to 44 Clare Point and Nos. 1 to 44 Whychcote Point in Claremont Road.
The notice states: “The reason for the intended demolition is to enable the first stage of the comprehensive regeneration of Brent Cross, Cricklewood to go ahead.
“This includes the building of new homes, a new town centre, major new and improved transport and community facilities, and other infrastructure and enhanced public areas as part of a phased redevelopment.”
The period when the proposed demolition can start is tomorrow and it will expire on March 17, 2026, unless revoked or otherwise terminated under the 1985 Housing Act.
