Motorists using some roads in Barnet are facing disruption from the end of this week due to temporary closures for roadworks.
Notices from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s Barnet Borough Times confirm that orders have been granted for the works to take place in Barnet Lane, Edge Hill Avenue and Tenterden Grove.
Barnet Lane will be shut to traffic between The Stables Horse Activity Centre and The Barnet Table Tennis Centre, King George V playing fields, between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Friday.
This is to allow testing of a telecommunications antenna and maintenance work by workmen using a cherry picker, but access will be maintained from either end of Barnet Lane while the work is carried out.
During the temporary closure, the alternative route will be via Mays Lane, Barnet Gate Lane, Barnet Road, Hendon Wood Lane, Totteridge Common and Barnet Lane and vice versa.
Edge Hill Avenue, at its junction with the A406 North Circular Road, is expected to be closed for two weeks from 8am on Monday due to sewer connection works.
The diversion will be via the North Circular Road, Beechwood Avenue and Edge Hill Avenue and vice versa.
Water connection works mean Tenterden Grove, at its junction with Finchley Lane, is due to be shut for five days from 8am on Tuesday.
The alternative route during the closure will be via Tenterden Grove, Tenterden Gardens and Finchley Lane and vice versa.
