Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire which broke out at a building under construction.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) says it was called to Station Road, Edgware, around 6.57pm last night (March 31).

Photos on social media show huge plumes of smoke filling the sky as firefighters tackled the blaze at the building near Edgware tube station.

A number of pallets containing building materials on a first floor mezzanine were destroyed by the blaze, LFB said.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was under control by 7.46pm. Firefighters from Stanmore, Mill Hill and Hendon fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
