An arcade that specialises in retro games will be opening in Milton Keynes this summer.

The Pixel Bunker, which will officially open its doors on June 4, will have numerous classics on offer for game enthusiasts to play which range from the 70s to the 00s.

There will also be a bar and food area at the arcade, however, this is not expected to open until August.

The arcade will also be the home of the National Film & Sci-fi museum, where film buffs across the country can admire displays that focus on some of the world’s largest movie franchises such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Harry Potter, Marvel, Ghostbusters and more.

An excerpt from their lengthy Facebook statement read: “We currently have a collection of over 200 dedicated arcade cabinets and an additional 150 game boards meaning we have over 350 games to choose from.

“And we are adding new machines every week!

“Every month the arcade floor will change as we alternate different games from our collection, meaning each time you visit you will get a different playing experience."

Those at the Pixel Bunker also want gamers to get in touch and vote for the games they would like to play, as the company has close to 100 cabinets which are ‘all free to play once you are inside the venue.’

It will be located in Central Milton Keynes with the company describing its venue as just being ‘10 minutes from Junction 14 on the M1’, with the arcade having three sessions each day at 10am, 1.30pm and 5pm from Tuesday to Sundays.

Gaming sessions will cost £13.50 for adults and £9.50 for children, whilst family tickets will be £35.

Concessions will be available for students with an NUS card.

On the museum, they added: “The Pixel Bunker is part of a larger entertainment complex we have been working with.

“As well as our arcade, the venue will also house the National Film & Sci-fi Museum and other cool retro and fandom features still to be announced.

“The museum is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and exhibition of the art, skills and dedication that goes into delivering some of the world’s most successful films and TV shows.

“So, if you want to see Darth Vader’s screen used mask, James Bond’s Walther PPK gun, the grail cup from Indiana Jones, or a Cyberman helmet from Doctor Who, they will all be on view here!
