A pony found abandoned on the brink of death near Swanley has made a dramatic recovery after being taken in by an animal rescue centre.
Second Chance Animal Rescue was called to Parkgate Road on March 20, after passers-by found Tyson, thought to be around 18 months old, in a ditch, severely underweight with deep, ulcerated wounds.
It was touch and go whether he would pull through that night, as his temperature fluctuated dangerously.
Tyson was severely underweight
But almost two months later, he has been filmed bounding around his pen having bounced back to health.
A spokesperson for Second Chance Animal Rescue said: “Tyson is doing really well now.
“He’s putting on weight and most of his sores are nearly healed.
“We still have a way to go more visits from dentist and farrier and regular blood tests, however he is able to lay down and get back up himself which is a very big achievement.
“As you can see by the video, he is learning to be a horse now and his character is coming out.
“He can be a little pickle when he wants!”
Police, who were called to the scene, were unable to identify Tyson’s original owner.
The centre has issued a further public appeal for donations to help mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on its services.
A spokesperson said: "As you can imagine, like others covid has had a big impact on our income.
"Please donate whatever you can to help give this poorly boy every possible chance to survive."
"Anything from £1 would help."
