Motorists in the Brent Cross area are facing disruption lasting until October due to a package of roadworks set to start later this month.

A notice from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times outlines plans to implement the programme of traffic restrictions, including the closure of Tilling Road, for an estimated 17 weeks.

However, the measures, which are to facilitate new surface and foul water drainage works as part of the Brent Cross regeneration, will be carried out in a phased manner.

The measures involve:

Temporarily closing Tilling Road between its junction with the A406 North Circular Road and Brent Terrace.

Temporarily prohibiting vehicles from entering Tilling Road from the North Circular Road.

Temporarily prohibiting vehicles from turning right into Tilling Road from Brent Terrace.

The works are set to commence at 8am on Tuesday, June 22 but are set to be carried out in this order:

The Tilling Road closure will be in place from June 22 to Monday, June 29 and Friday, July 2 to Monday July 5 to Thursday, July 8.

No entry from the North Circular Road will be in place from Friday, July 9 to Wednesday, October 6.

The banned right turn will be in place from Monday, July 5 to Thursday, July 8.

Meanwhile, other notices outline more road closures in and Barnet due to start from next week.

A five-day closure outside an address in Selborne Gardens is due to take effect at 8am on Monday to allow a new water connection to be laid.

The road will be closed outside No. 24, and the alternative route will be via Watford Way, Greyhound Hill, Church End, The Burroughs, Watford Way and Colindeep Lane, and Colindeep Lane and Watford Way.

Another five-day closure is set to begin at the same time on Monday in Creswick Walk for the same purpose.

However, this will only apply from 8am to 5pm each day.

Westside is set to be closed at its junction with Great North Way for three days from 8am on Friday, June 18 to enable a leaking valve to be repaired.

The diversion will be via Great North Way, Watford Way and Westside.

Church Way, outside Nos. 32 to 40, is set to be shut to vehicles for five days from 9am on Monday, June 21 for a new water connection.

The diversion will be via Church Way, Church Crescent and St James Avenue.

A further five-day closure from the same date is due to begin at 8am in Hill Close.

Again this is to allow a new water connection to be laid, but the road will only be shut from 8am to 5pm each day.

A four-day closure of a section of Hayes Crescent is due to begin at 8am on Tuesday, June 22 for water connection works.
