Motorists in the Barnet area are facing disruption due to temporary closures for roadworks, starting on Friday.

Notices from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times detail the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be necessary while the works are carried out.

Westside, at its junction with Great North Way, is set to be shut to vehicles for three days from 8am on Friday for water works, but access to residents will be maintained via the junction with Watford Way.

The alternative route will be via Great North Way, Watford Way and Westside.

Hill Close is due to be closed for five days from 8am on Monday to lay a new water connection, but the restrictions will only be in place from 8am to 5pm.

Church Way, between Nos. 32 and 40, is also due to be closed from 9am Monday for the same reason.

This work is expected to last five days and the diversion will be via Church Way, Church Crescent and St James Avenue.

More new water connection works mean Hayes Crescent, at its junction with Finchley Road, is set to be shut for four days from 8am on Tuesday.

Drivers are advised to use Hayes Crescent, Bridge Lane, Finchley Road and vice versa as an alternative route.

The erection of a tower crane means Winnington Road, between Nos. 56 and 60, is set to be shut for two days from 8am on Saturday, June 26.

However, the notice advises that if the works are not carried out at that time, they will start on either Saturday, July 3 or Saturday, July 10.

The diversion during this time will be via Winnington Road, Ingram Avenue, Wildwood Close, Meadway, Holne Chase, Winnington Road and vice versa.
