The five-week closure of a road next to Brent Cross shopping centre is due to start on Sunday.

The Barnet Borough Times reported last week that a section of Geron Way was due to be closed to allow the construction of a new footbridge to the Brent Cross railway station development. That closure order, necessary to allow crane oversail, has now been made.

The road is set to be shut between its junction with the north car park access to Brent Cross Retail Park and a point approximately 210 metres south-east of the junction while the works take place.

The order will start at 12.01am on Sunday and is expected to last for five weeks. However, the restrictions will only be in place from July 4 to July 16 and July 29 to August 2.

Meanwhile, traffic using Highview Avenue is facing lengthy disruption from 8am on Monday, July 12 due to gas main replacement works.

This is expected to last 25 days and, while the works take place, will:

Prohibit vehicles from entering Edgware Way from Highview Avenue.

Prohibit vehicles from entering the northernmost section of Highview Avenue from Highview Avenue (southernmost section from its junction with Highview Gardens), or Highview Gardens.

Introduce a one-way traffic system, north to south, on Highview Avenue, between its junctions with Edgware Way and Highview Gardens, for vehicles to travel southbound only.

Queens Parade Close is also set to be closed for three days from 8am on Thursday, July 15 to allow a new water connection to be installed.
