Temporary restrictions are set to be introduced around the Brent Cross shopping area if traffic gets too busy in the build-up to Christmas.

A notice from Barnet Council in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times details plans to bring in the measures “when traffic conditions demand” to maintain vehicular and pedestrian safety.

The order is due to start on December 1 and is expected to remain in place until the end of next month.

It will permit the closure of Tempelhof Avenue to northbound traffic between its junctions with Tilling Road and Prince Charles Drive, and introduce ‘at any time’ waiting and loading restrictions on both sides of the Haley Road access road, between Haley Road and the A41 Hendon Way slip road.

The alternative route for motorists will be via Tilling Road, A406 North Circular Road (westbound to eastbound via M1 junction 1 roundabout) and Stadium Road East.

Meanwhile, Burtonhole Lane NW7 is set to be closed at its junction with Hillview Road on Monday for one day for the installation of telecommunications cabling.

A four-day closure is due to start on Tuesday in Fernhurst Gardens HA8 for the relaying of water service pipes.

The road will be closed at its junction with Green Lane, and the alternative route for motorists will be via Fernhurst Gardens, A5 High Street, Hillside Drive, Green Lane and vice versa.

A notice has also been published stating the council’s intention to install a zebra crossing on Parkside Gardens EN4 between its junction with East Walk and West Walk.
