Car parking charges are set to be introduced at three parks and open spaces in the Barnet area.

A notice from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times details the proposals to introduce the charges at Old Courthouse Recreation Ground, West Hendon Playing Fields and Scratchwood Open Space.

The charges at Old Courthouse Recreation Ground, Manor Close EN5 are set to apply from 8am to 6.30pm, Mondays to Saturdays.

The cost would be: Up to 30 minutes – free of charge; up to one hour - £1; Up to two hours - £1.50; Up to a maximum stay of three hours - £2.

The charges at West Hendon Playing Fields, Goldsmith Avenue NW9 are also planned to apply from 8am to 6.30pm, Mondays to Saturdays.

The cost would be: Up to two hours – free of charge; up to three hours - £2; up to four hours - £3; over four hours - £6.

The charges at Scratchwood Open Space, Barnet Way NW7 are due to apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The cost would be: Up to one hour – 50p; up to two hours - £1; up to three hours - £2; up to four hours - £3; over four hours - £6.

No date is given when the charges are due to take effect but the notice states they “would not apply to groups, organisations and clubs involved in recognised activities contained within the parks/open space.

“These groups would be issued with dispensations/permits to indicate their eligibility to park in the car parks during their controlled periods.

Meanwhile, Gibbons Mews service Road NW11, between its junctions with Hayes Crescent and Hallswelle Road, is set to be shut for gas main connection works.

The closure is due to apply from January 24 and last for three days.
