Motorists may face some disruption to their journeys in the Barnet area from next week due to temporary closures for roadworks.

The closures are detailed in notices from Barnet Council in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times.

Telecommunications works are due to close Barnet Lane EN5, between the entrance to Barnet tennis centre and the car parks for King George playing field, for one day on Monday.

The alternative route will be via Barnet Lane, Hendon Wood Lane, Barnet Road, Wood Street, Barnet Lane, Mays Lane, Barnet Gate Lane, Barnet Road, Hendon Way Lane and Totteridge Common.

The installation of a new water connection is set to temporarily shut Etchingham Park Road N3 at its junction with Squires Lane for five days from Monday.

The diversion will be via Squires Lane, Long Lane, Park View Road and Etchingham Park Road and vice versa.

Another five-day closure from Monday is due to close the road outside Nos. 46 to 69 Cumbrian Gardens NW2, also for water connection works.

Drivers should use Penine Drive and Purbeck Drive and vice versa instead.

Southfields NW4 is set to be shut for one day on February 18 between its junctions with Watford Way and Clarendon Gardens to allow a mains leakage survey to be carried out.

Motorists should use Watford Way, Clarendon Gardens and Southfields as an alternative route.

Another one-day closure is due to happen on February 27 in Station Road NW4.

This is for telecommunications work and will close the road between Talbot Crescent and Malcolm Crescent.

The diversion will be via A5 West Hendon Broadway, North Circular Road, Bents Cross Flyover, Hendon Way and Station Road.

A much longer closure, as previously reported by this newspaper, is due to start on March 7 in Hendon Wood Lane NW7 for water main reinforcement works.

This is due to last for 111 days and will shut the road between its junctions with A5 Edgware Road and Mannock Close.

The alternative route will be via Highwood Hill, Marsh Lane, Barnet Way, Barnet Road and vice versa.
