An eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was hit by a vehicle this morning (July 15).

The London Ambulance Service was called to East Barnet Road, New Barnet at around 8am following reports of a collision.

The air ambulance also attended, landing in Victoria Park, while police put a cordon in place.

The Metropolitan Police said the boy was transported to hospital where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle – believed to be a car or small van – remained at the scene.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Road closures, which caused queues and forced buses to divert, have now been lifted, police added.
