Police rushed to a house after reports a suspected World War II bomb had been found.
There were fears of an unexploded bomb in the garden of a house on Ferney Road, East Barnet on Saturday evening (November 12).
Officers were called to the address at 4.30pm and examined the item.
A police van was seen parked outside the address while officers determined whether the object was dangerous – however the incident was stood down and declared a false alarm.
It is difficult to get an accurate estimate of unexploded bombs in the UK, however the Ministry of Defence reported in 2018 that 450 World War II bombs – about 60 a year - were made safe or defused since 2010 by disposal teams.
