The parents of a 16-week-old foetus found in a box outside a hospital have been found safe and well.

​Officers were called shortly after 9am on January 30 following the discovery outside Barnet Hospital.​

​A man who police had been appealing to come forward contacted officers on February 2 having seen the appeal.

The parents are both safe and well, Scotland Yard said.

A Met spokesperson said: "​Police have consulted the hospital and are satisfied as to their welfare, that the circumstances are not suspicious, and that no offences have been committed.​

"​We appreciate the concern the appeal prompted from the public and media, thank you for sharing it."​
