Residents were warned of “heavy smoke” after a blaze broke out in a detached building in Enfield.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to Goldsdown Road yesterday (May 28) at 4.50pm to reports of a building fire.

The service received 25 calls about the fire, which damaged most of a single-storey detached building.

In a Tweet, LFB said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters have been called to a fire on Goldsdown road in #Enfield.

“Residents living nearby are being advised to shut doors and windows due to heavy smoke.”

Firefighters tackled the blaze for more than 90 minutes, declaring it “under control” by 6.29pm.

Fire crews from Enfield, Chingford and Edmonton fire stations attended the scene.

A LFB spokesperson said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
