The top of a Watford road is set for “major works” at the same time as a road closure around the corner.

Affinity Water will put 24-hour temporary lights in place in A412 St Albans Road, near Coates Way and the A405, between April 2 and 5.

It will also be closing the section of Coates Way from the junction with St Albans Road to Kytes Drive for the “essential work” during the same timeframe.

The pavement will not be blocked.

Affinity Water’s description for the works said: “We are carrying out essential work to maintain the resilience of our infrastructure with fewer disruptions.”

Alerting motorists that the temporary traffic lights may impact journeys, Hertfordshire County Council Highways described the project as “major”.

Once the work is complete, multi-way signals will be back in the same section of St Albans Road for Leep Electricity Networks works to install a new service connection.

This will last from April 6 until April 14, but by that time Coates Way will have reopened.
