A dad and his two sons who were jailed for a fatal machete attack have lost appeals against their sentences.

Father and son Elvis and Jamal Grant were found guilty of the murder of 25-year-old Devon Jensen-Wallace, while Elvis's other son Lamar Grant was found guilty of his manslaughter.

The savage attack took place in Brent on June 1, 2022, when the victim was chased down and stabbed in the leg with a machete.

In August 2023 Elvis and Jamal were jailed for life with a minimum of 24 years, while Lamar was jailed for 15 years.

The trio, all previously of Pitfield Way in Brent, lodged appeals against their sentences but on May 17 Court of Appeal judges dismissed them.

Devon was killed on June 1, 2022, after he met two friends at the St Raphael’s Estate.

The court heard that the three friends were near Overton Close when they were set upon by up to three men, one of whom was armed with a machete and another with a baseball bat.

Devon and his friends fled the attackers but during the chase the 25-year-old was stabbed in the leg.

Cameras recording the pursuit showed the assailants encouraging each other throughout the pursuit.

Devon eventually ran into Henderson Close, where he was found at around 6.30pm bleeding profusely from his right leg.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attempted to save his life, but he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Police say their investigation was hampered by the suspected gang-related nature of the crime, as many potential eyewitnesses were reluctant to speak.

These included Devon’s friends who were with him when he was attacked.

Despite these difficulties, following a search of the Grants’ home, officers found the fingerprint of Lamar Grant and a sample of Devon’s blood on a black baseball bat in the kitchen.

Lamar and Jamal Grant were both arrested in June 2022, with Elvis Grant's arrest taking place in February 2023.

At trial, Jamal Grant was the only defendant to give evidence, admitting he was present at the time of the incident but claiming to have acted in self-defence and in defence of his dad.

All three were charged with murder, with Elvis and Jamal eventually found guilty of the offence.

Lamar Grant was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter, while all three were also convicted of perverting the course of justice.
