North London's newest neighbourhood has earned the seal of approval from upscale bakery chain Gail's.

Brent Cross Town, the development going up south of the North Circular at Brent Cross, is to get a new branch of the bakery - which started out in Hampstead High Street in 2005.

The company is headquartered in Camden Town and there are now more than 185 Gail's cafes across the country.

el Estudio, a pilates studio with branches in Kensington and Wembley, has also signed a lease with developer Related Argent and will join other businesses on the newly emerging high street, including dog-friendly café Arthur’s, north London bakery Karma Bread, and convenience store AFG.

Charmaine Rees, from Related Argent, said: "Brent Cross Town’s retail offer is now really beginning to take shape.

"Our strategy has always been to create a high street that feels authentic and rooted in the local community, alongside established brands that give people more reasons to visit and dwell here.

"The arrival of Gail’s and el Estudio is an important step in that direction. This is the first of several further brand announcements we expect to make as momentum continues to build."

A Co-op grocery store has just opened at the 180-acre site which will eventually boast 6,700 new homes, three million sq ft of workspace, schools, play facilities, and 50 acres of parks and playing fields.

And in September, Urban Leisure Group who run The Elgin in Maida Vale, The Alice House, Bobby Fitzpatrick and The Gallery in West Hampstead and Never For Ever in Kentish Town will be opening a new restaurant.

The Gail's will serve the full range of fresh bread, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and coffee while el Estudio will open its third London location at Brent Cross Town offering group and private pilates classes.

Brent Cross Town is one of Europe’s largest regeneration schemes and is being delivered in partnership with Barnet Council by Related Argent to create a new mixed-use neighbourhood.

Developers hope the new retail and leisure offerings will not only serve the future residents but will also contribute to making Brent Cross Town a destination for north Londoners.
