A man was killed after being involved in a collision with a lorry in Cricklewood on Friday.

The pedestrian, thought to be in his 50s and from the Cricklewood area, was crossing Cricklewood Broadway at a pelican crossing, near the junction with Anson Road at about 7.15am.

A police spokesman said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Free Hospital, in Hampstead, where he died later in the day.

He added: “We believe we know who the deceased is but await formal identification. Next of kin have not yet been informed.

“A post mortem has been scheduled to take place at Finchley Mortuary next week and an inquest will open adjourn in due course.”

A small white and blue tanker lorry, the type used for cleaning drains, was travelling north. The driver stopped at the scene, but police are appealing for witnesses and information following the collision.

The collision investigation unit at Alperton traffic garage are leading the enquiries and any witnesses are urged to call the dedicated line on 020 8998 5319.
