Keep-fit enthusiasts have received a welcome boost following the installation of the borough’s first all- weather gym.
The outdoor equipment — a space walker, surfer, and leg press — cost Barnet council £6,000 and are located opposite the existing children’s play area in Oakhill Park, in Parkside Gardens, East Barnet.
The gym is free to use and each piece of equipment has been specially designed to exercise a different part of the body.
A council spokesman said that using hydrolics rather than weights ensures the gym offers a safer and more enjoyable workout for all ages.
Councillor Andrew Harper, cabinet member for environment and transport said: “Barnet has many beautiful open spaces. If successful, the council plans to install more equipment in Oakhill Park as well as the other open spaces across the borough.”
