This restaurant, just a stone’s throw from Finchley Central station, effortlessly combines wonderful food with great service in comfortable, modern surroundings, at a remarkably reasonable price – what more could you ask?

The menu takes its inspiration from the Mediterranean, with plenty of fresh fish, pasta and grilled meats to choose from. As everything is prepared on the premises and cooked to order, you can be sure that whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Battasy is always keen to offer its customers great value for money whether they are having lunch or dinner. However, the two evening set menus are an excellent option. You can choose from any starter plus a pasta dish or main course salad for just £9.95, or £11.95 for any starter and any main course from the whole of the a la carte menu, making it both delicious and affordable.

The selection of starters includes a classic Greek salad topped with black olives and a generous helping of cool, creamy feta. We chose some succulent, freshly grilled sardines and a plate of tender calamari, which came coated in a lighter-than air batter and served with tartare sauce for dipping.

The main course menu offers a huge variety of flavours, such as the tender chicken shish or the succulent red pepper lamb. You could also indulge yourself with the home-made burger made from 100 per cent topside beef, served with all the trimmings. Fish lovers will enjoy the delicious smoked haddock fishcakes or the grilled tuna steak, while vegetarians will find they are well catered for with dishes such as traditional vegetarian moussaka and tasty falafel with hummus.

The delicious house specialities include the mouth watering pan-fried duck breast served with a fruity mixed berry coulis, and the tender braised lamb shank, served with a helping of creamy mash and a rich red wine jus.

At Battasy, attention to detail takes priority, from the friendly, knowledgeable service to each of the beautifully presented dishes. And, as its many regular customers will agree, it is one of those rare restaurants that you will want to return to again and again.
