A WOMAN has vowed never to walk alone in Potters Bar after being pelted by eggs on a main road.

Pauline Wixted, 56, was walking along Southgate Road with her daughter and her daughter's partner at around 10.30pm last night when two eggs were thrown at them from a passing car.

One egg hit her in the back of the head and the other hit Jai Restall, 26, in the back.

Mrs Wixted, who lives and works in the road, says she is now too scared to walk in the area by herself.

Mr Restall, a Dacorum borough councillor, said: "My partner and I went to meet Pauline from work to walk her home.

"We were just walking along, chatting to each other, when we felt something smash into us from behind.

"We had no idea what had hit us, but they hit us really hard. If Pauline had turned slightly and been caught in the face, she could have been badly injured.

"We were completely covered in egg, and my suit was completely ruined too.

"Pauline has lived in that street for donkeys' years, but she no longer wants to walk down the street. She doesn't even want to walk outside her own house.

"Whoever did it got five seconds of laughter and fun, but Pauline now has a lifetime of misery."

Joann Wixted, 23, added: "Mum is really shaken up by the attack.

"She's now worried about going out by herself after dark. I don't know if she'll get her confidence back."

Police are investigating the incident.
