A MAN who had a fight with a police officer who found him lying drunk in the middle of a Barnet street has admitted assault and breaching his ASBO.

Edward Jacey was discovered lying in Barnet High Street at about 11.35pm on Sunday by a police inspector who ordered him to get out of the main road.

The 22-year-old took exception to the policeman's command and became abusive, but when the officer tried to arrest him he started to struggle and resist arrest, causing an injury to the officer's wrist.

He was eventually detained and taken to Colindale Police Staion where he was uncooperative and refused to give any information about himself, and was placed into a cell.

Police inquiries discovered Jacey was already the subject of an ASBO handed to him in June last year at Bromley Magistrates Court which barred him from getting drunk in a public place.

The Royston, Hertfordshire, resident was charged with assaulting a police officer, using threatening words and breach of his ASBO and pleaded guilty to all three offences at Hendon Magistrates court yesterday.

He was handed unconditional bail to return to court on May 17 after pre-sentencing reports have been carried out.
