The results of the Barnet Council elections have proved beyond doubt the case for breaking up the borough and removing Cricklewood from it.

Once again, the affluent communities north of the Hendon Way have six councillors to represent them while the less affluent Cricklewood community is left unrepresented.

All the parties on the council are pledged to ignore Cricklewood residents and support the detested slum city project and have created their own timescale. They now have to get rid of Cricklewood before the disaster they have created comes into being.

I urge all the 63 Barnet councillors to support a boundary review at the earliest opportunity. Affluent, leafy Barnet is simply not equipped to deal with the consequences if radical action is not taken now.
